RE7R - 7 Speed Transmission
JATCO developed an all-new 7-speed automatic transmission (AT) for front-engine, rear wheel drive medium and large vehicles. This transmission features high torque capacity, downsizing, and innovative technology to realise fuel economy improvement. The Intent was to offer excellent drivability and shift responsiveness for maximum driver satisfaction. New Torque Converter lock-up and adaptive shift controls were added, providing an improvement in driving satisfaction and fuel economy over the 5-speed AT it replaces.
With the use of four sets of planetary gears, A/T enables a 7-speed transmission for forward and single reverse speed, depending on the combination of 3 sets of multiple-disc clutches, four sets of multiple-disc brakes and two sets of one-way clutches.
Transmission Controller Types
The Re7R has two types of transmission controllers, which are used indiscriminately throughout different ages, models and platforms. To know which type of transmission controller is being used in your Re7R TCM, the CAL ID will be required.
Generally, the expected type for different platforms is as follows
