VW AG EA888 Evo4 (Mk8)
The ea888 evo4 engine is an evolution and improvement on the older ea888 platform. It utilizes a SIMOS 19 ECU and newer control systems and actuators, though many shared older components. there are articles highlighting the differences between the older and new platform below for viewing,

Summary of Software
ProECU software has been introduced to allow reprogramming of the factory ECU in order to tune the necessary components of the calibration, allowing for modifications and increases in power. Pro ECU software filters several thousand OE calibration maps into a comprehensive set of maps, selected to all allow the tuner to tune the engine with similar ease, found on a standalone replacement ECUs.
The software allows easy control over most factory parameters including:
Boost targets and wastegate control
Target AFR
Ignition timing and knock control
Valve timing and lift control
Fuel delivery including fuel pump calibration (using the same style pump as OEM)
Airflow Measurement and fuel compensation
Tuning the EA888 Evo4
The initial release of software is design to easily accommodate stock & basic hardware with minimal OEM map changes, for these more basic cars the RaceROM maps can be tuned instead of requiring many OEM map changes, the process would require
Enable the RaceROM targets in the modes you require (Map Switch mode enables for all of the features)
Enable the Base RaceROM Limit Override check box (to remove the OEM limits)
Set up the RR Torque Request to demand high enough torque to achieve your desired boost
Set the RR mode boost target limits up to limit the OEM target
Tune the RaceROM ignition timing and lambda target maps
Enable any special features like Rolling Anti Lag or flex fuel and tune the appropriate maps
Tune OEM function for cam timing, lift, burble and exhaust flaps.
This should give adequate results without the need for many OEM map changes.
For more heavily modified car the OEM strategies will need to be adjusted, fortunately the Mk8 is similar to the mk7 with changes in only a few control strategies. If there is no documentation for mk8 consult the mk7 strategies and if more information is need contact support@ecutek.com.
Mk8 RaceROM
The initial release of Mk8 golf includes RaceROM with the following features
Map Switching (fuel, ignition, boost limit and torque request)
CAN inputs (with presets)
Flex Fuel
MPI enable
Rolling Anti Lag (rolling Launch)
As work continues on the platform more features may become available at a later date
Mk8 TCM DQ381
There is currently no programming available within ProECU for the DQ381 in the evo4 platform. This is being reviewed for feasibility. The TCM will limit the torque from the ECM and there is no easy solution to solve this problem, some of the options that are not ideal are
Program the TCM and lift the limits (not yet with ecutek)
Underreport the torque sent to the TCM (may cause issues with slippage or shift harshness)
Replace the TCM controller with an older type DQ381 controller (unknown difficulty)
Use a can Bridge to intercept the torque signal from ecm to tcm
Programming & Phone Flash
The Mk8 ea888 evo4 software currently supports SIMOS19.3 and 19.6 ECU types in both ProECU and the PhoneFlash eco systems supporting functions for
Programming
DTC clearing
Data Logging (with Logging profiles)
Part programmed recovery from both ProECU and Phone Flash.
ECU connect can also change Map switch modes and use Dashboards
