VW AG EA888 Evo4 MPI (Port Injection)
Some if not all Mk8 SIMOS 19 cars do not have Port injection installed from the factory, the hardware is still installed on the ecu to drive and MPI system however and auxiliary fueling can be implemented using mostly factory hardware.
The extra hardware required to install port injection on and evo4 ea888 includes items such as
Port injectors
Modified or aftermarket Port injection capable Manifold
Fuel rail & low side pipework
Fuel Pressure Sensor
Port injection wiring loom with ECU pins
To enable the MPI systems you will need to have combustion modes configured to operate with the correct number of injection pulses and then the RaceROM MPI enable switch set to that combustion mode to enable the final activation of the port injectors
There is a diff file for the changes required for MPI to operate on a car with 1300cc ASNU injectors here.
Combustion mode setup for MPI
Combustion modes in the evo4 engine are slight different to the previous generation ea888, it is recommended to review the mk7 combustion mode manager to get an idea of the individual calibratable values and functions involved before commencing setup.

In the evo4 to select an operating point (OPP) combustion mode the coolant temperature for request map is configured to use the Combustion Mode Selection (OPP) 5 Standard map when the coolant temperature is past 60degC. This map will then need to be configured to request a combustion mode ove the correct load and RPM ranges
A mode that will be used in the appropriate running scenarios and has the ability to output to multiple injection pulses should be chosen, 2 or 9 are generally acceptable and are mapped to their own combustion mode in the mode mapping functions.
The combustion mode inj. request for OPP airflow limit will also need to be configured to allow the mode to be used for the range of airflows that are expected in the tune, for example above 2500 rpm with a measured below the value of the map (2500mg/stk) the combustion mode won't inhibit multiple injection.
Mode Inhibit disables and the Combustion mode standard - Number of pulses must also allow the injection to be scheduled.
Then the injectors need to be configured, the split maps setup and the Fuel Pressure sensor configured as per previous port injection setups.
Injector Size
This is the flow rate of the injectors and is a conversion of the Injection time to fuel flow scaling value used in the OEM calculations into a more convenient cc/min value.
LPFP Sensor Scaling
To set up the Low pressure fuel pressure sensor a LP Fuel Pressure Sensor Type must first be selected, most sensors will be analogue but SENT can be used
Then set the LP Fuel Pressure Ref type to the suitable Gauge or absolute pressure type
as well as the MAX and smoothing values you wish to use
the calibrate the sensor scaling map to match the sensor installed (use the SENT scaling map if you are using a SENT sensor)
