How do I download my free tuning software?
You simply use the EcuTek App Downloader from the below link to download EcuTek ProECU software http://www.ecutek.com/Downloads/AppDownloaderSetup.exe .
What can I do with ProECU MX-5?
You can tune your own Mazda MX-5/Miata by creating modified ROM files, you are then able to flash program them into your ECU (flash licence/points will be required if your ECU is not previously EcuTek Tuned).
What can I adjust?
You can adjust Rev limits, Ignition, Fuelling and Cam Control maps, Limiters and much more.
Does it include the RaceROM special features?
Yes, some RaceROM special features are included for free but they are limited; the exact list of features can be found under the MX-5 RaceROM section.
Can I get all the special RaceROM features?
Yes, it is possible to purchase a RaceROM MX-5 upgrade from the Master Tuner who supplied your ProECU programming kit, this upgrade will add further features that are not included in the free product such as Speed Density tuning and load limit lifting.
Can I damage my engine?
Unfortunately yes, if you do not understand the basic principles of engine tuning it is very possible to damage your engine, you should have knowledge and understanding of potentially damaging detonation and Air/Fuel ratio's; if you have any doubts about your tuning capabilities please consult a professional engine tuner for guidance and advise.
Can anyone use my Programming Kit to tune my vehicle?
Yes, any tuning shop can tune your vehicle or other (Ecutek supported) vehicles using your ProECU Programming Kit.
Can I program a ROM file supplied by another tuner or ProECU MX-5 retail customer?
Yes, you can program any ROM using your ProECU Programming kit as long as it hasn't been protected by ROM Keying.
Can I program a ROM file supplied by another tuner or ProECU MX-5 retail customer if it has RaceROM features enabled that I don't have access to?
Yes, but you cannot see or edit the RaceROM maps unless you have bought the RaceROM MX-5 Upgrade from a Master Tuner.
Can I tune an existing ROM supplied by my tuner?
Only if the tuner has supplied the ROM unlocked (i.e. not ROM keyed).
If my existing tuned ROM is locked (ROM keyed) how can I gain access to it?
You need to email your tuner to request access to your map, but access is at the tuner's discretion, and you can't assume they will give you the open file, they may also charge you for unlocking it.
Can ProECU MX-5 read my tuned ROM out of the ECU?
No, ProECU MX-5 does not have READ ROM ability.
Can ProECU MX-5 make a back-up copy of the ECU before programming?
Yes, ProECU MX-5 can read the ECU ROM by choosing "Dump Details for EcuTek", but this ROM cannot be viewed or edited by any customer or tuner; it can only be decoded by EcuTek under special circumstances.
Can ProECU MX-5 open, view and edit the non-EcuTek ROMs that are available on forums?
Yes, ProECU will allow opening and editing of any ROMs that are of the correct format, but they can only be saved in the secure EcuTek format.
Can ProECU MX-5 be used to tune other MX-5/Miata cars?
Yes, you can tune your friends' vehicles, as long as they are between Model Year 2006 and Model Year 2015. An additional licence will have to be purchased from your Master Tuner for each extra vehicle tuned.
How do I acquire further licences to program other vehicles?
You can buy them from your Master Tuner.
How do I know who my Master Tuner is?
Your Master Tuner's details are given on the front of the ProECU Programming Kit, also on the ProECU startup splash screen.
Can I change my Master Tuner?
Yes, just email sales@ecutek.com and specify your Hardware Licence Key ID (dongle ID) and the name of the Master Tuner you want to move to.
Can I use ProECU MX-5 commercially?
No, the licence agreement limits you to non-commercial use only. You must contact EcuTek if you wish to use it commercially.
Will I be listed as a tuner on the EcuTek website?
No, only trade customers are listed. You will be listed on the website if you purchase the full commercial tuning suite.
How many ECUs will ProECU MX-5 be able to tune?
EcuTek will implement a fair usage policy to prevent professional tuning companies from abusing the low-cost ProECU MX-5 retail product.
Can ProECU MX-5 program other ECUs supported by EcuTek?
Yes, the ProECU Programming kit supports many other vehicles such as the Nissan GTR, Subaru STI and Mazda MX5. Using ROM files supplied by an EcuTek tuner of your choice, you can program and datalog these ECUs as well as read and clear the Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs). Can ProECU edit maps on other ECUs?
Yes, with it you can edit maps for the Toyota GT86, Scion FR-S and Subaru BRZ.
Can my ProECU MX-5 ROM file be programmed into an ECU using other tools or products?
No, as ROM files saved with ProECU can only be programmed into the ECU using EcuTek tuning tools.
What ROM should I use in my ECU?
You should base any tuning on the same-region ROM that's already in your ECU. See the MX-5 Tuning Guide for further guidance.
Why is EcuTek giving away free tuning software?
So as to compete with other solutions that take EcuTek data and sell it at a price, or offer it for free.
Why is EcuTek better than the competition?

Do any other tuning shops use EcuTek ProECU?
Yes, many famous companies use and have used ProECU to calibrate ECUs; these include Mitsubishi, Subaru, Prodrive, Cosworth, Mountune TRD, Sprintex, HKS, Greddy, Jun, AVO and Vortech, to name but a few.
I don't know how to tune my vehicle!
Then you must not use ProECU MX-5 but should instead visit an EcuTek tuner, who will be able to carry out the work safely on your behalf.
Can I ask EcuTek how to tune my vehicle?
Unfortunately, EcuTek cannot teach you how to tune your vehicle.
Can the EcuTek tuner teach me how to tune my vehicle?
Some Master Tuners may be willing to teach you to tune your vehicle, but you can expect to be charged for the privilege.
What happens if I have general questions about tuning?
This is not something EcuTek can help with, although some EcuTek tuners may be willing to help you for a reward.
